Herbal Sore Throat Treatments
Frustrated with a painful sore throat? Learn how you can use herbs to cure it quickly. Herbs have amazing healing power to cure irritated and inflamed respiratory tissue and to heal the mouth.

Here are some great herbal treatments you can use:
1. Agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria) – use agrimony to soothe inflamed mucous membranes of the mouth. Add two to three teaspoons of the dried agrimony herb into a container of boiling water to make a tea. Drink the tea twice a day.
2. Anise (Pimpinella anisum) – Anise helps relieve the pain of respiratory illnesses, especially when you have a productive cough that produces phlegm. Anise is known to break up bronchial congestion. You can make a tea with one to two teaspoons of crushed aniseed. Before drinking the mixture make sure to steep the herb for 10 to 12 minutes to get all the flavorings into the tea. Strain and drink up to two cups a day.
3. Knotgrass (Polygonum aviculare) – Add two to three teaspoons of knotgrass herb to a cup of boiling water to make a tea. This will help treat mild respiratory problems. You should be aware ahead of time that knotgrass is astringent.
4. Plantain (Plantago, various species) – Plantain can be used to combat inflammation of mucous membranes in the mouth. The plant has bactericidal activity. For this reason you should not heat it as it will lose its health benefits. Instead, add three to four teaspoons of the plantain to juice or cold water and drink it down.
5. Myrrh (Commiphora, various species) – Add the tincture of myrrh to warm water and use it as a mouthwash and gargle.
